Store layout scanning is the process of capturing a retail space with a 3D laser scanner so every wall, fixture, ceiling height, and service connection is recorded exactly where it actually sits — not where a decade-old lease drawing says it should.
The scanner works from a tripod, moving through the space in stages. Each position captures millions of measurements, and those positions are stitched together into one continuous, dimensionally accurate record. From that single dataset we produce whatever the project needs: a walkable digital twin, 2D as-built plans, fixture layouts, or a Revit BIM model.

Do you have to close the store to scan it?
No. Store layout scanning is non-disruptive, and most locations are captured during normal business hours while customers shop. For high-traffic flagships, however, early-morning, post-close, and overnight scans are all available at no premium.
How long does store layout scanning take?
A typical 3,000–6,000 sq ft retail unit takes 2–4 hours on-site. Larger formats and shopping centers with common areas and back-of-house need a full day. The digital twin is usually live within 24–48 hours, and drawings follow in 5–7 business days.
How accurate is a Matterport Pro3 retail scan?

Can you scan multiple locations across a portfolio?
Yes — multi-location rollouts are a core use case. Every store gets captured to the same specification, named to the same convention, and delivered in the same format. Can the scan match our brand's drawing standards?
Yes. Send us your titleblock, layer template, and prototype drawing set, and the deliverables come back in your standard — the same annotation, line weights, and sheet conventions your architects and fabricators already use.
Who owns the scan data?
You do. The digital twin, the point cloud, and any drawings become your property at delivery, to share with architects, contractors, and landlords however you choose. We keep a copy for QA and for any rescan you commission, but we never resell or repurpose it.
